Shimmer Mist + Stencils

Kelly Rasmussen

Our Shimmer Mists are a great way to create quick backgrounds using stencils. Today I've used the Pink Metallic Shimmer Mist along with the Spiral Petals Stencil to create a background that I used for two different cards.

The traditional way to use the stencil is to lay it on your cardstock and spritz the Shimmer Mist over the top. But while doing this, I discovered another way to use the stencil to get a little bit different look. I sprayed the stencil with the Shimmer Mist, then I carefully picked it up and "stamped" it onto my cardstock. This resulted is a more crisp image and I didn't get any of the bleeding of ink under the stencil like I did with the traditional method. It also gives you the reverse result of your stencil, which is fun!

I die-cut a heart from the stenciled piece using the Nesting Heart Infinity Dies and the word "Love" with the Luggage Tag Alphabet Dies. I stamped a sentiment and hearts from the Love Stamp & Cut set and then mounted the heart to a piece of Azalea cardstock.

Once the card was made I saw the scraps leftover lying on my desk and decided to whip up a second card. Be careful before you throw away those "scraps"-- they can make beautiful things!

Have a great day!

I love this idea. I very seldom use the mists as I don’t like the results but your’s is great and I certainly will try it. Thank you for your great inspirational technique.
