MMH Countdown to Creativity

We're back with our second post of the day, leading up to the release of our September My Monthly Hero kit and add-ons on Tuesday, September 6 at 1pm eastern. In this post, Jayne introduces us to a fun Halloween-themed optional add-on to the kit!

Every October, I look forward to making a few Halloween cards and some Halloween tags for trick-or-treat bags. So when I saw the new add-on set DC197 Halloween Trimmings Stamp & Cut, I was thrilled! The set includes a wonderful selection of traditional Halloween images and sentiments that can be used to make delightful (or a bit frightful) card designs.

The card that I am sharing today features some of the stamps and dies from this fun holiday set. I've also used a new, branch-style wreath die that will also be available as an add-on purchase. This realistic wreath will be a perfect foundation for creating seasonal wreaths on cards throughout the year.

To make my card, I started by repeatedly stamping the "happy halloween" sentiment, with [hero_product_link sku="AF224" text="Orange Soda"] ink, across an [hero_product_link sku="PS621" text="orange"] card base. This sentiment, along with the matching pair of dies, is a wonderful size and a beautiful script. I applied black distress ink to all four edges and corners of the card front. Then, I cut a wreath from black cardstock, glued it to the card base, trimmed the excess from the edge, and then wrapped the card with a black twine bow.

I [hero_product_link sku="PW110" text="embossed"] a pair of sentiments from this set onto two narrow strips of black cardstock that I layered over a vellum [hero_product_link sku="DI199" text="circle"] and then added to the card with foam tape. Next, I stamped and die cut three bats with [hero_product_link sku="AF345" text="Intense Black"] ink. After adhering the bats to the card with foam tape, I added three orange gemstones to the sentiment strips for a bit of sparkle.
