Saturdays with Sally: Holiday Joy
Sally Traidman
I haven’t even finished my Thanksgiving cards yet (SOON!!) when this assignment came along. I love working with word stamps, so let me show you a few ways to use them. I focused on Happy Holiday Mixed Font and Joy To The World Mixed Font woodblock stamps. I chose Ornament Peek-a-Boo Infinity Parts for my images. It’s hard for me to use non-traditional colors for Christmas, so out came the greens, pinks and reds with white cards.
Let’s begin with the large ornament card. Stamp "happy holidays" alternately in Green Hills and Bubble Gum inks on a white card. Stamp the ornament in Pine ink and hand cut the ornament from Kiwi cardstock. Mount with foam tape and add bow and gems. I didn’t like the white remaining areas so I stamped the small ornament from the stamp set in random spots.
Next I used Happy Holidays Mixed Font again with a smaller ornament from the ornament set. Add small die cut greens from Stocking Bouquet, plus gem and cord.
I tried to use Joy to the World Mixed Font in a unique way, so I stamped it in Pine ink on Kiwi cardstock. I hand cut it apart and put foam tape on the back. To get a plaid background, I used the line stamp in the ornament set (designed as a string for handing the ornaments!), and stamped alternately and randomly in Green Hills and Bubble Gum inks. Mount all onto a small white card and arrange the letters to spell JOY.
Lastly, I made a tiny gift card with JOY and made the small embossed in gold ornament to replace the O.
Hopefully these ideas with inspire you to start your holiday stamping while your turkey is cooking. You will probably have some extra time this year without all your travel and company! Stay safe and have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
