Ombré Inks with Color Layering Stamps

Apr 30, 2024 Jennifer Kotas

Hello! Jen Kotas here today. Ombré inks can step up any image or sentiment but have you tried using them on layering stamps? I pulled out a few ombré ink pads and the Color Layering Sunset Over Waves Bundle and started stamping.

Stamp the most solid ocean stamp from the Color Layering Sunset Over Waves Bundle using an ombré ink pad. I held the ink pad so the darker ink was over the more solid part of the stamp, the horizon part. To avoid a solid line gently tap the ink pad back and forth a tiny bit.

Stamp the second ocean layer using an ink pad darker than the ombré ink. Stamp the third layer and the sun/moon with Mist or Dandelion.

Stamp the cloud and larger sentiments with the ombré ink as well. Experiment with different ombré inks! You never know what will be amazing.

To create the ombré backgrounds, blend on the darkest ink a quarter of the way down a A2 panel then blend on lighter color.

Add Glitter Hero Paste over a stencil or emboss with a bold prints background using iridescent embossing powder.

Die cut the ‘friend’ die from the Smile Friend Stamp & Cut XL out of white glitter paper from the Glitter Paper Basics

Die cut a top fold card base using the surf die and assemble card using Precision Glue. Instead of cutting the background to match the bottom of card, I cut off just enough so it’s out of sight. After stamping and cutting out the ocean and the clouds, I tried mixing and matching the different ombré colors on each card.

This card uses Ombré Tidepool to Navy Ink for the first layer and the sentiment, Nautical Core Ink for the second and Mist Core Ink for third. The cloud was stamped with Ombré Pink to Red Ink. I used Nautical and Periwinkle Core Inks for the background and added Glitter Hero Paste over the Star Cluster Stencil

My second card uses the Ombré Pink to Red Ink for the first layer, Azalea Core Ink for the second plus the sentiment, and Dandelion Core Ink for third. The cloud was stamped with Ombré Neon Chartreuse to Blue. I used Azalea and Cotton Candy Core Inks for the background and added Glitter Hero Paste Glitter over the Listen to the Sea Stencil

The final card uses Ombré Neon Chartreuse to Blue ink for the first layer and the sentiment, Periwinkle Core Ink for the second and Dandelion Core Ink for third. The cloud was stamped with Ombré Tidepool to Navy I used Periwinkle and Green Apple Core Inks for the background then embossed with Sun Ray Bold Prints using Iridescent Green Embossing Powder.

Hero Arts has 22 different ombré inks and quite a few Color Layering stamp sets to choose from. Imagine the possibilities!

I love the colors on this cards. I have a few ombre inks, but was unclear how to use them.
