October My Monthly Hero Countdown: Idea #2+Giveaway!

We are back for another countdown post, leading up to the release of the September My Monthly Hero kit! Release day is Monday, October 1st at 1pm Eastern/10 am Pacific. Good morning! Emily Midgett here with you today sharing some more festive inspiration using some of sweet images in this month's My Monthly Hero kit! This month's kit is chock full of gorgeous vintage holiday imagery, perfect for creating super detailed and layered cards as well as creating one layer projects, like the one I've created to show you today. My goal with holiday cards has been to make them as easily-mailed as I possibly can, which to me means flat. The less money I have to spend on postage, the more money I have to spend on Christmas gifts, right? Let's get started with the details!
I began by stamping the sweet little figure skater from the October My Monthly Hero kit onto some masking paper and fussy cutting her out, then stamping her again on my card front using Intense Black ink. With masked images, I always determine which image I want to see in it's entirety and stamp that first, then place my mask over the top so that the rest of the images on the card front will be behind that image. After placing my mask over my figure skater, I stamped the Christmas tree, bench, skating rink, and lamppost also using Intense Black ink. I then used my Copic markers to color the images and added some Silver Sparkle embossed ornaments from the October My Monthly Hero kit to the Christmas tree for some festive sparkle.
After I'd finished coloring all of the images, I used my two lightest blue Copic markers to color the sky, gradually fading as it got closer to where the sky would visually meet the ground. To create the snow surrounding the miniature ice rink, I used the new Snowfall glitter, along with some finer grit glitter from my stash. I started by adding Crystal Lacquer to the areas in which I wanted some snowdrifts, then added the Snowfall glitter and covered any remaining Crystal Lacquer with the finer grit glitter. I also added some to the Christmas tree to really make it festive.
Well, that's all for me today! I hope you're enjoying all of these beautiful vintage images... this kit is a stunner, for sure. And Hero Arts does such a great job of including SO many individual images on these larger stamp sets that you can create a plethora of designs using just the one stamp set!
