Hello there, Michelle here and today I have a card to share using dies for a no-line coloring look.

Happy Birthday Butterfly by Michelle Short for Hero Arts

I started off my card by die cutting the Varying Butterfly Wings Fancy Dies onto a 4.25" x 5.25" panel of Deluxe Smooth White Cardstock. There are a few different wing options in the set, so I cut apart the dies, placed them onto the panel where I wanted them to cut, and held them down with low-tack tape before running through my die cutting machine.

The dies do not cut all the way through the cardstock like most dies, but cut lines to create an image, similar to that of a stamped image, but without the ink! The edges of the wing on the right hand side do cut all the way through, so that you can lift up the wings to give it more dimension and movement. You can do this with some of the flowers and leaves on the left side as well, but I decided to keep them flat for my card.

Using alcohol markers, I colored the wing on the right hand side first, adding dots over the top to create some texture and help to blend the colors togther. I then colored the flowers and leaves on the left wing to achieve a more blended look, followed by the body.

I adhered the panel onto an A2 sized card base made from Pitch Black Cardstock using foam tape. I made sure to not adhere the wing down on the right hand side so that you can see the black cardstock peeking through at the side.

I stamped a sentiment from Floral Rainbow & Clouds onto Pitch Black Cardstock using Clear Embossing & Watermark Ink. I applied White Detail Embossing Powder and heat set. It was cut into a strip using a die from Message Strips Stamp & Cut XL. It was then adhered to the card using foam tape. To finish, I embellished with silver gems.

I think this butterfly would work great with so many different color combos, but I do love purple and aqua togther! Thanks so much for stopping by today. I hope you have a wonderful day!
