Monarch Butterfly Window
Hello there, Michelle here. Today I have a card to share with you using the beautiful Color Layering Monarch Butterfly set. You can purchase this set on its own, or as part of the Color Layering Butterfly Kit, which includes the stamp set, Frame Cuts and ink cubes. The kit also gives you a saving of 25%, as well as a free stencil!
I started off my card by stamping the butterfly from the set using blue inks on to Hero Hues Dove White Premium Cardstock. I used Summer Sky for the bottom layer, followed by Navy and then Intens-ified Black for the top layer. It was then cut out using the Frame Cuts and set aside while I worked on the rest of the card.
I took a top-folding card base and die cut the Ballroom Window Fancy Die from the front of it (this die comes with a frame die but I removed this to have just the window portion). I also die cut this from another panel of Hero Hues Dove White Premium Cardstock to add to the inside of the card.
On the inside front of the card, I adhered a panel of acetate to create the window. I then adhered the die cut panel on top to hide the acetate and so that the inside of the card looks tidy. I took a panel of Hero Hues Arctic Premium Cardstock and blended Pool Mid-Tone Shadow Ink towards the bottom. I placed this inside the card so that you can see it through the window.
I adhered the butterfly to the front using foam tape. I also die cut one to add to the inside, to cover the adhesive being seen. I took the sentiment from the Chameleon Stamp & Cut and stamped it on to Hero Hues Pitch Black Premium Cardstock using Clear Embossing & Watermark Ink. I applied White Detail Embossing Powder and heat set. It was cut in to two strips and added to the card with black foam tape. To finish off, I added a few jewels.
Since I used blues on the butterfly for my card, I thought I would create a little tag using the ink pad colours that you get in the Color Layering Butterfly Kit. I used Soft Vanilla for the bottom layer, followed by Neon Orange and then Charcoal for the top layer. The butterfly was added to a Dove White Cardstock tag cut using the Tag Fancy Die.
I cut another tag and stamped the sentiment from the stamp set on to it using Intens-ified Black Ink. I adhered the two tags together back to back and then added twine through the top. To finish off, I added a few black enamel dots from the Neutrals Hero Hues Enamel Dots set.
Which colour combination do you like the best? The great thing with butterflies is that they come in lots of wonderful colours so you can have fun with different combinations! Thank you so much for stopping by today. Have a wonderful day!
