Mixing Up Hero Pastes & Waxes with Stencils

May 09, 2024 Rachel Kleinman
Welcome back, creatives! This is Rachel Kleinman here to share some fun ways to mix and match your mixed media products when using your stencils. Today I'm using the brand new Sparkle Weave Stencil a few different ways on this fun birthday card.
I started by using the Sparkle Weave Stencil as an embossing folder. I taped the stencil to Plum cardstock and ran it through my die cutting machine to add some texture. Keep the stencil taped to your cardstock for the next steps!
To help the texture pop a bit, I blended the cardstock with Dove White ink using a large ink blending brush.
Next, I used my Palette Knife to thinly spread a layer of Glitter Hero Paste over the entire cardstock panel. Move quickly so the paste doesn't dry.
Now for the fun part! I spread a thin layer of Gold Hero Wax over some parts of the panel, but not all. The Gold Wax will go right over the wet Glitter Paste and the mediums will mix a bit.
Now carefully peel back the stencil to admire that shimmer and shine!
Now it's time to work on the balloon centerpiece. I placed the Sparkle Weave Stencil over a piece of Mist cardstock and inked up the stencil using Mist ink and an ink blending brush. Then that was die cut with the Balloon Bunch Fancy Die.
I stamped some small sentiments in Paradise ink using stamps from the new Your Day Messages set. I added the little bow cut from Gold Glitter Paper and lightly splattered with Gold Glimmer Metallic Ink.
I popped up the balloons with foam adhesive and the card is complete!
Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you have fun exploring and playing with your stencils!
