May My Monthly Hero Countdown: Idea #3 + Giveaway!

Apr 29, 2017 Aaron Leventhal

We’re back for another countdown post, leading up to the release of the May My Monthly Hero kit! Release day is Monday, May 1st at 1pm Eastern/10am Pacific. We’ll be here all weekend long, sharing ideas for using both the main kit, as well as new optional add-on products that will be available on Monday. And don’t forget to comment on each and every post as we’ll be giving away a kit on Monday morning, before the kit launches! Here’s Jess with another look at the new kit.

Good morning, Jess here! As someone who grew up near the ocean, this month’s My Monthly Hero kit is a dream come true! Plus, as a child of the 90’s, I often dreamed of being Ariel (from The Little Mermaid). So when I saw this beautiful kit and the gorgeous mermaids I decided to turn myself into a crafty mermaid for the day!

An Ocean Full of Thanks by Jessica Frost-Ballas for Hero Arts(Ha, if only I looked like that!) ;)

To start I stamped the fish and mermaid onto white cardstock with Intense Black ink and then colored them with Polychromos colored pencils before using the coordinating dies. After the background was finished I decided to take a coordinating Copic marker and colored the edge of the die-cut images to match the background. I stamped the sentiment on a strip of white cardstock and heat-embossed it with silver embossing powder.

First I blended Broken China and Faded Jeans Distress Ink Oxides onto a piece of watercolor paper in loose waves and flicked water across the ink to create the lighter splotches of color. I taped the stencil over the background and randomly blended the same distress oxide colors over the stencil. Next I pressed a Versamark pad over the stencil and heat-embossed it with sparkle embossing powder! I trimmed the background panel and adhered it to a card and then added my sentiment and images. To finish the card I applied Glossy Accents to parts of the mermaid and the fish! I love the sparkle and shine from the embossing powder and Glossy Accents!

Thanks so much for stopping by and don’t forget to visit the other countdown posts to see more sneak peeks!  Have a fabulous day and I’ll be back tomorrow with one more sneak peek (told you I love this kit!) ;)

Win a kit before you can buy it! Just leave a comment on this (and every) Countdown to Creativity post! We’ll randomly draw one lucky winner from all of the comments left across all countdown posts and announce the winner first thing Monday morning, May 1st, before the kit launches at 1pm Eastern. The more you comment, the more chances you’ll have to win!

Good luck!
