Marigolds All Year Round
Welcome everyone! It's Mindy joining you today with inspiration using the new Marigolds stamp set and coordinating Frame Cuts from Hero Arts.
Marigolds are often used in Fall decorating but this stamp set is so versatile that it can be used all year round. One of the ways I find easiest to do that is by using vellum.
I'm going to start my project by stamping the Marigolds and leaves in clear embossing ink onto vellum and heat embossing with White Detail embossing powder. Then I'll use the coordinating die to cut them out.
By using vellum, I'm not adding a particular color that could signify a season.
Next, I'll create a background for my images. I used the Diamonds stencil and ink blended Taffy, Creamsicle, Lemon Drop, Key Lime Fizz, and Splash Reactive inks with a blending brush. After I remove the stencil, I lightly blend over those areas with the same colors to tone down the background. You can use any color combination you prefer, I just find rainbows cheerful and non-seasonal.
After blending, I'll trim my panel down using the Rectangle Infinity Dies. This will leave me with the front panel measuring 3 3/4" x 5" and when attaching to a white card base, I will have a beautiful white margin to frame my design.
To attach the vellum, I'm adding dabs of Precision Glue behind the heat embossed lines. The flower that is closest to the front, I added a small foam square to pop it up and separate it from the rest of the flowers. There is so much detail in the images that you can hardly notice the foam square.
I'm going to finish off the card with a sentiment that is stamped in Unicorn pigment ink and heat embossed with White Detail embossing powder. This sentiment comes from the Message Strips Stamp & Cut XL and trimmed out with a coordinating die.
I'll add it to the front of the card with a tape runner and foam squares and complete the design with a few of the pearls.
Don't forget about our current challenge and have fun with those stencils! Enter by October 7 and you could win a $50 Hero Arts gift card.
Thanks so much for stopping by today!
