Making a Scene with Message in a Bottle Stamp Set
Hey there! Daniel West, here, with a fun little note card scene featuring images from the new Message in a Bottle stamp set. This stamp set features a few different fun corked bottle images, stylized sentiments and images that can fit inside each bottle.
I decided to add one of the bottles to the center of a scene with little islands off in the distance. To create this scene, I had to do some super simple masking and use a gel pen to highlight the edges of my sentiment. The result makes me smile.
To create this little note card, I gathered these supplies:
- Message in a Bottle Stamp Set
- Intens-ified Black Ink
- Periwinkle Cardstock
- Dove White Cardstock
- Hero Hues Clear Enamel Dots
- Copic Markers B000, B34, B37, BG02, BV23, E39, E35, E34, E30, BG96, E89.
- White Gel Pen
- Precision Glue
- Lettering Pen
- Paper Trimmer
- Bone Folder
- Scor-Buddy
To begin, I laid down a strip of removable tape to mask off the bottom of the bottle before stamping it with Intens-ified Black ink. This makes it look like it is tucked into the sand on the beach.
Next, I stamped the sentiment inside the bottle and removed the mask. Then, I stamped the islands to the right and left of the bottle. I used a Tombow calligraphy pen to add a line for the beach under the bottle. These pens have a flexible nib that allows you to draw with varying widths. This stamp set has thicker lines, so this is how I achieved the same width as the rest of the stamp set.
After that, I added some Copic coloring to the scene. I colored the bottle with Blues, Blue Violet and Blue Green markers, the sand with E30 family and the trees with BG96 and E89. For the water and the dots in the sky I used BG02, B34 and B37.
I added some additional details with a white gel pen. The sentiment was getting lost in all the coloring, so I added some white gel pen to the right sides of each letter. Then, to tie in the rest of the scene, I added some little details all around with the same gel pen.
Next, I trimmed down the scene to 3 3/4" by 3 1/2" and mounted it with a piece of Periwinkle cardstock a 1/4" larger on all sides.
To finish off my notecard, I adhered it to a card base of the same size and stuck some Clear Enamel Dots to the front.
I hope you enjoyed this little note card as much as I did. Let me know in the comments what you would have added to the scene!
Have a lovely day!

I love it! I so wish I could have all of the new goodies before Father’s Day. This gives me an idea for a great card for my husband!
Maybe a seashell or two, maybe some birds in the distance. Either way the card is great. Love the look of it.
A treasure of a message in a bottle. Wonderful scene.
