Make a Wish
Have you had a chance to check out the new Ombré Sequins that Hero Arts now carries? They are gorgeous! A great variety of colors and I love that there are two sizes in each pack. Sequins scream “birthday card” to me, so that’s what I decided to make today to showcase these beautiful sequins.
I started out by stamping my sentiment from the Birthday Messages set on a white panel measuring 3.75″ x 5″. This set has so many great birthday messages and I absolutely love that script!
Next, I die-cut a circle and heart using the Infinity Circles and Infinity Hearts Dies. Then I adhered this panel to a piece of white craft foam, lined up the circle and heart dies over the exhisting cut-outs and cut through the foam layer. This creates the raised dimension for the balloons and a place to nestle my sequins.
I added some pool and purple Layering Paper scraps behind the balloons before adhering the panel to a grey card base. And also used some white watercolor paint to create the glare accents on the balloons.
The balloons have the look of a shaker card, but all sequins are securely adhered and there is no acetate layer over the top like a normal shaker card. I used mini glue dots to adhere the sequins, which is by far my favorite method for adhering sequins.
As a final step, I needed to add some strings to my balloons. I always cringe a little when I have to add a hand-drawn element to a card that is basically done. And I wasn’t totally thrilled with how they turned out because the black pen I was using kept quitting on me. (Note to self: Get a new black pen!) But hey, it adds to the handmade feel of the card, right!?!
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have an amazing day!
