June My Monthly Hero Countdown: Idea #5 + Giveaway!
One of the new items available this month, both included in the kit and as an add-on purchase, is [hero_product_link sku="661149" text="Sizzix tan Paper Leather"] sheets! How cool is that? Seriously cool - durable paper leather that simulates the look and feel of real leather! I was so anxious to work with this new material that I used it to create a pair of fun luggage tags using items in June's My Monthly Hero kit. These tags could be secured to luggage, beach bags, laptop cases or backpacks for identification. The paper is actually durable enough to hold up to that! Plus, they would be equally lovely tied to gifts to decorate packages.
I started by cutting a pair of windowed tags with the tag die set from a sheet of paper leather. The faux leather cut and scored beautifully! In order to duplicate the look of genuine luggage tags, I machine stitched around the window on each tag. The paper leather was a breeze to sew and the stitched tags look and feel so realistic! It's awesome!
I continued by stamping a selection of small stamps from the monthly kit with [hero_product_link sku="AF233" text="Pale Tomato"], [hero_product_link sku="AF242" text="Soft Cantaloupe"], and [hero_product_link sku="AF208" text="Bubble Gum"] inks on [hero_product_link sku="PS610" text="white layering"] paper and adhered them to the inside of the tags behind the windows. I added a stamped circle and a die cut image to each tag before stamping a sentiment with [hero_product_link sku="AF214" text="Cup O' Joe"] ink. Before closing the tags, I placed pieces of trimmed acetate behind the windows and then adhered the tags shut. I added brown cording for securing the tags to luggage and just for fun, some bright pink bows.
