Today we're delighted to have Debi Adams here to share some fabulous “beyond the kit” ideas for a few of the add-ons.
Hi friends! I’m Debi Adams and I am happy to have you join me today on the Hero Arts blog. It’s always exciting when the new My Monthly Hero Kit and add-ons launch and like all of the previous months, June did not disappoint! Birthday-themed designs are always in. I have two fun cards to share with you showcasing some fun tips and techniques.
This first card looks more complicated than it really is.
To create the background, I ink-blended several of the Reactive inks together and then stamped and embossed the Candles Bold Prints onto the background using embossing ink and gold embossing powder. I colored in the background with my black Copic marker. Make a mistake and color the embossed area? No worries. Use a clear Copic marker to remove any stray marks.
I placed a strip of Pitch Black cardstock across the top of the card and then die-cut the Happy Birthday sentiment from Dove White cardstock and another from gold glittered cardstock. I applied various colors of the Reactive inks onto the white cardstock sentiment and then attached them slightly off-centered, to the top of the glittered cardstock pieces. These were then adhere to the card front and I was done!
My second card is a little bit more work but so worth it. The background was embellished using Splash Reactive ink and a blending brush. I die-cut the smaller Nesting Cloudy Infinity Dies from Dove White cardstock and adhered them to the background. The animals were stamped, colored and die-cut using the new Party Animals stamps and coordinating dies using Dove White cardstock. I guesstimated where the elephant would go then stamped the music notes onto the background using Intense Black Ink. Ok, can you tell what I used for the striped mat? If you guessed the Sun Background stencil using Taffy Reactive ink and a blending brush, you would be correct. I cut the mat out to fit a slimline card and then applied the stencil technique to the border, moving the stencil down carefully so that two-thirds of the mat had the Sun Background on it. This was attached to the card base with foam dots. The hand-cut grass was attached to the mat (it is raised) and the animals were then adhered in place. Lastly, I stamped and embossed the sentiment onto a Pitch Black cardstock strip. If you like, you can add some little “grass marks” with a fine-tip, permanent pen onto the hill portion of the grass. Fun card, big on celebration! And actually, they both are!
Well I hope this post left you with some inspiration and put you in a happy place. Thanks for hanging out. And if you happen to have a June birthday, Happy Birthday!
