Today we're delighted to have Debi Adams here to share some fabulous "beyond the kit" ideas for a few of the add-ons.
Happy July friends! Can you believe we are already near the middle of summer? Even though the days are longer, they certainly seem to fly by! I’m from California and our temperatures are on the rise. Not only is the weather starting to heat up, but this month’s My Monthly Hero Kit and add-ons are hot, hot, hot. All the images are fun designs to work with and are so inspiring. Today I am featuring two cards showcasing a few of the add-on sets.
First up is one of my personal favorites. I love flowers and this Bird of Paradise image is so striking. To make it really pop, I stamped it twice using Sea Salt Reactive Ink onto Pitch Black cardstock. (Make sure to heat set it when you are done.). I then stamped the image again on Dove White cardstock using Clear Embossing & Watermark Ink with gold embossing powder. I colored it in with Copic markers, making sure to color the outer edges with a black marker, then I die-cut it with the coordinating die and attached it to the center of the card. The gold embossed sentiment finished the card. I have to say I really enjoyed exploring all the colors of a Bird of Paradise!
My second card was created with the Monstera stamp set and coordinating Monstera Frame Cuts. I stamped one side of the card a few times with Intense Black ink onto Dove White cardstock using the monstera leaves and dragonflies. I splattered it lightly with watered-down, black acrylic paint using a brush. Allow to dry. TIP: Go around the images with a light gray marker. It gives the images a dimensional look. I stamped the image again on a separate piece of Dove White cardstock with Intense Black Ink, colored it in with Copic markers and die-cut the image out. I mounted it to the side of the card, in the middle of the other stamped designs. I used the smallest Wood Frame Infinity Die to create the frame for the sentiment. I cut it from Dove White cardstock. I then colored the frame with Copic markers and stamped the sentiment onto the center piece of the frame. Before attaching it to the card base, I swirled some black carpet thread and adhered it in place, then attached the frame piece using foam dots. Lastly, I stamped, die-cut and colored the frog and put him on the card base.
Two different cards, two different looks but a lot of ways to work them! It’s always a joy to work with the amazing images that the Hero Arts artists produce. They make coloring and creating so enjoyable.
Can’t wait to see what you make!
