Hello and welcome as we begin the countdown to the release of the January My Monthly Hero Kit! Release day is Monday, January 7 at 1pm Eastern/10am Pacific. We will be here for the next three days, sharing ideas for using both the main kit, as well as the new optional add-on products that will also be available on Monday. Stay tuned for more inspiration all weekend long! Now let's join Emily for another look at this darling kit.

Hi there! Emily Midgett here with you today sharing some more inspiration using the super sweet and versatile new My Monthly Hero kit. One of my favorite aspects of the My Monthly Hero kits are the fun dies that you receive with each kit; today's project is a shaker card created using only items from the kit. Let's get started with the details!

To create this adorable shaker card, I began by stamping the large shop front image from the new My Monthly Hero kit using Intense Black ink onto a white card front, then die cut the center portion using one of the dies included in the kit. (This window cut out is optional; you also can die cut the entire shop front and leave the window intact!) I colored the shop front with my Copic markers, keeping things simple with some pale gray shading to create a white store front, then adding some bright turquoise to the awning. I also die cut a bicycle and some balloons from the same white card stock and added some turquoise and pink Copic coloring.

Next, I backed the "window" opening with some acetate. I placed the window in my MISTI, then added some flowers down at the bottom of the window to be peeking out from behind the glass. I replaced the shop front panel with a plain white A2 panel, stamped the flowers and a sentiment from the new My Monthly Hero kit, then colored the flowers with my Copic markers and did some very light ink blending using Tide Pool ink.

I added some foam tape around the window opening, then used some Ombre Purple Sequins for the "shake" part of the shaker, then adhered the bicycle and balloons to the bottom corner of the card using liquid adhesive. Super cute little Valentine's Day card, right?

Win a kit before you can buy it! Just leave a comment on this (and every) Countdown to Creativity post! We’ll randomly draw one lucky winner from all the comments left across all countdown posts, and announce the winner first thing Monday morning, January 7th, before the kit launches at 10am Pacific. The more you comment, the more chances to win!

    Hi Emily,
I adore your shaker card. The window card takes me back in time when I was a little girl. I would purchase one or two flowers at the florist for my mother. I rode my dark blue bike with a pink basket.

Emily, I really like the cool bike that is propped up by your shaker card window! What a great idea and you can not tell it is a shaker card and that adds to the surprise and the awesomeness of the card! What a fantastic idea! I love your color palette too!
