Hello Hero Arts friends, I am excited to be back on the Hero Arts blog today! Today I am sharing ideas on how to use Hero Arts Iridescent Embossing Powders. I had a lot of fun combining colors to add texture to a mixed media styled card! So let's get started!
I started today's project with a piece of Luxe White Watercolor Cardstock. I created my background using Reactive Inks. I used the following colors: Root Beer, Pool Party, Fog, Licorice, Lemon Drop, and Grape Slush. I start with one color at a time. I smoosh the ink pad on my work surface, spritz with water, then dip the paper into the color. I then dry with my heat tool, add water droplets, and pick up the color with a paper towel. I repeat this process several times until I have the texture and color I am looking for. The Reactive Inks are amazing and create so much beautiful texture!
Next I added texture to the background using both stamps and Hero Transfers. For the stamping I used Background Texture Strips with Bermuda Core Ink. I also used Vintage Postmarks and Tickets, as well as Vintage Map and Ledger with Pitch Black Core Ink. I stamped images in a random pattern across the colorful background. Next I added the White Collage Backgrounds Part 2 Hero Transfers. I added these to various sections on my colorful background.
Next I used the beautiful new Floral Trove Stencil with White Hero Paste. Before I added the paste through the stencil I colored the paste using Black Liquid Watercolor. I put the paste on my work surface and added one small drop of color to make the paste black. I wanted to make it black for the Iridescent Embossing Powders. Next I added the stencil to various sections of the card panel by spreading the paste with my Hero Arts Palette Knife and then I added Iridescent Embossing Powders on top of the paste and heat set with my heat tool. I love the added texture you get and the bubbles as well! Truly such a cool mixed media effect! I added three colors of Iridescent Embossing Powder: Lavender, Green, and Bronze. Once the panel was completely dry, I trimmed the panel using the Nesting Rectangles Infinity Die Set.
I then darkened the edges of the card panel with Core Inks in: Espresso and Pitch Black. I then added splatters to the card front using Black Liquid Watercolor and Gold Glimmer Metallic Ink. Next I die cut the large Smile Sentiment from the Smile Friend Stamp & Cut XL set using Pitch Black cardstock and my Hero Arts Compact Cutter. I die cut the smile die four times and adhered the layers together using Precision Glue. Next I stamped a sub sentiment from the Composition Notebook Messages set onto Dove White cardstock using Pitch Black Core Ink. I created a simple sentiment strip using my paper trimmer and then added Pitch Black Core Ink to the edges for added interest. I completed my card by adding Translucent Pink Hero Hues Enamel Dots. I added the card to a top folding card base.
I had so much fun creating today's card! I will be back on the blog soon. Thank you for stopping by today!
