Howdy Masculine Card
Howdy, I hope you are having a great week! I often give cards to guys (my hubby always appreciates them a lot) so I decided to create another masculine card to have on hand.
The Wood Floor Bold Print background stamp from the Spring 2017 catalog has caught my eye and I wanted to try to color it using Copic markers for a realistic wood floor look. Surprisingly, coloring took a lot less time than I anticipated and my background was done in under 10 minutes!
I snapped a few photos with my phone as I was coloring to show you a step by step process just in case you want to recreate this look. After stamping the background onto Simon Says Stamp 120LB smooth cardstock in Hero Arts Intense Black ink I outlined every line using my darkest marker – E79. Next, I used a mid tone E37 and again, outlined everything. For my lightest tone I picked E33 and used a chisel nib of my marker and colored entire panel, I went from top to bottom and back up. Finally, I used my darkest marker again and intensified the darkest sections of my background.
I stamped a handsome Color Layering Rooster using Soft Brown, Cup ‘O Joe and Black inks. I cut him out using a coordinating die.
To create a sentiment for this card I stamped Howdy from the Stamp Your Own Cactus set and also stamped a tall saguaro cactus using Moss ink color.
After trimming my wood floor background panel I adhered it onto an A2 top folding card base and foam mounted all of my elements – a cactus, a rooster and a Howdy sentiment.
Have fun stamping!
