Hot Foiled Holiday - Slimline Style!
Hi there! Emily Midgett here with you today, and I have some slimline inspiration to share with you using some of the beautiful hot foiling products from the 2022 Hero Arts Holiday Catalog! I know that we cardmakers tend to stick to A2 sized cards, but so many products lend themselves beautifully to slimline size, particularly the Holiday Greenery Foil & Cut, and what fun it would be to receive such a unique card in the mail! Let's get started with all of the details!
I began by doing some hot foiling. I hot foiled some greenery from the Holiday Greenery Foil & Cut and a greeting from Happy Holidays Foil & Cut, both hot foiled onto Deluxe White cardstock using some metallic pewter foil. I also stamped the shadow for the sentiment using the coordinating Hero Greetings Happy Holidays stamp set using Crimson ink. I die cut all of the pieces using the coordinating dies. I added some red alcohol marker to the berries on the Holiday Greenery foiled elements to coordinate with the crisp red shadow on the greeting die cut!
As I was playing with the arrangement for the greenery and sentiment, I noticed that due to the significant size of the greenery die cuts and the sentiment, the die cuts lent themselves perfectly to a slimline layout! I wanted to tie in another element of white, so I used my trimmer to create a sparkly white frame, cut from Glitter Paper Basics cardstock, which I popped up on a Charcoal slimline card front using foam adhesive.
I added my hot foiled Happy Holidays message in the center of the framed card front using foam adhesive, then arranged my hot foiled foliage, radiating from the center of my card front. I needed one more pop of red, so I die cut some foliage from the Holly Berries Stamp & Cut XL using Cranberry cardstock and tucked it behind the hot foiled foliage. When adding accent colors, I try to always add at least three pops of it in various forms. In this case, the pops of red are on the greeting, the alcohol marker berries, and the die cut foliage. I heat embossed a sentiment from the Holiday Borders and Icons set onto a strip of Charcoal cardstock, then popped it up with another layer of foam adhesive, placing it in the center of the large sentiment die cut. The extra layer of foam adhesive helps the greeting to pop from the busy card front!
Well, that's all for my project today! So much sparkle and shine on this card... but if you can't use sparkle and shine on holiday cards, when can you use it? Thanks so much for stopping by today, and have a marvelous day!
