Hocus Pocus Kitty

Good morning! Jess here with a spooky sweet card using the adorable Luna the Halloween Cat that is an add-on to September's My Monthly Hero Kit. I really love this versatile cat set...I used it earlier this month for a CAS card and wanted to go in a different direction this time!

To start I blended Fossilized Amber, Wild Honey, and Spiced Marmalade Distress Oxides onto cardstock. Then I stamped the cat from Luna the Halloween Cat onto a corner of the cardstock with Intense Black Ink and die-cut it with the coordinating die. Next I blended a little more Fossilized Amber Distress Oxide ink onto the cardstock and spritzed it with water. I let it dry for a few seconds and then I blended a little Spiced Marmalade Distress Oxide ink onto the cardstock and spritzed it again with water. I immediately sprinkled the cardstock with Clear Embossing Powder and heat-embossed it. The embossing powder didn't stick to the areas of water droplets which created a really fun texture resembling a cratered moon. Next I die-cut the cardstock with the Circle Infinity Dies to create my moon.

I adhered the cat to the moon and set that aside while I worked on the rest of the card. Next I blended Fossilized Amber and Wild Honey distress oxides onto black cardstock to create a soft, glowing halo around my moon. I stamped the sentiment from Luna the Halloween Cat onto Snow Layering Paper with Versamark and heat-embossed it with Detail Black Embossing Powder before trimming it down to a label. Then I took a second piece of black cardstock, swiped the long edges with Versamark, and heat-embossed it with Clear Embossing Powder. I repeated it twice to get a nice, smooth glossy edge. I trimmed the blended black cardstock panel down to 4" by 5.5" and adhered it over the black cardstock panel. Finally I used foam mounting tape to adhere the moon and sentiment and finished the card with glossy black sequins and Ombre Sunshine sequins!

Thanks so much for visiting and have a fantastic day!

I love everything about this card! I am looking forward to giving your idea a try for using water and embossing powder on the moon.
