Have Fun with Die Cutting: Mug Ornaments with Felt
Hello there, Michelle here. Today I have a fun project to share with you creating ornaments using felt. These work great as ornaments or tags on their own but can also be added to gift card holders and cards!
Since I did not want to add any stuffing to these, nor sewing, I also die cut the elements from cardstock, so that I could adhere the felt pieces to the cardstock. This gives stability and also makes the adhering easier!
I started off my ornaments by die cutting the new Light & Mug Tag Fancy Dies main mug from felt, followed by the whipped cream. I cut the whipped cream part three times, so that I could cut the different parts of the cream and layer pieces up to create more interest and dimension. The pieces were adhered together (felt with felt) with Precision Glue.
For the cardstock layers, I used Hero Hues Premium Cardstock in Paradise (aqua mug), Iris (purple mug) and Antique Ivory (whipped cream). I added tape runner adhesive to the cardstock pieces and adhered the felt ones on top.
For the aqua mug, I die cut one of the smaller Nesting Heart Infinity Dies from a lighter aqua felt, as well as Mist cardstock. They were layered up and adhered to the mug, adding a button from my stash on top.
For the purple mug, I die cut the snowflake from the Cheer Ornament Fancy Die set from light purple felt and Passion Flower cardstock. I added a purple Hero Hues Enamel Dot to the center.
I die cut the holly and berries from Hug in a Mug Stamp & Cut XL from green, pink and red felt. The holly leaves were also cut from Meadow cardstock for added stability. The pink berries were added to the aqua mug, along with gems, and the red berries added to the purple mug. To finish off, I added silver thread through the tops and tied in a bow.
There are so many different ways to use these tag dies. I hope you have fun creating with them as much as I did! Thank you so much for stopping by today, wishing you a great day!
