Have a Mer-Mazing Day

Hello crafty friends, it is Creative Team Member Natasha on the blog today!  Today I am sharing the AMAZING new July Clear Set + Dies of the Month. I love the mermaid stamp in this collection and had a lot of fun creating this tag using this new Monthly Mini! So let's get started!

I started by creating the background for my project on a piece of Luxe White Watercolor Paper. I used a combination of colors to create the background. I started by preparing the surface with water. I then used three colors of Hero Arts Liquid Watercolor. I used: Dark Teal, Brights Chartreuse, and Brights Yellow. I allowed the panel to completely dry, then added more color using the same liquid watercolors by adding the color to my work surface and smooshing the paper onto the watercolor. I then moved the color around by spritzing the color with my water bottle. I dried the surface with my heat tool.

Next I added Sea Salt Reactive Ink to the background by smooshing the ink onto my surface, spritzing the ink with water, then adding my paper. I dip the paper into the ink, then dry the panel with my heat tool. I trimmed the panel using the Nesting Tag Infinity Die set. I added texture to the background using the July Cling of the Month using Nautical Core Ink. I also added more texture by applying gold flakes (from a previous monthly kit) to two sections of the tag, as well as Hero Wax in White. I darkened the edges of the tag with Nautical and Pitch Black ink.

Next I created a background using Reactive Inks. I used: Key Lime Fizz, Green Apple, Blue Raspberry, and Lemon Drop. I created a textured background using one color at a time by following the same process I shared above. Between each color, I dry the panel with my heat tool, then add water droplets (this allows the ink to react) and then pick up color with a paper towel. I repeat this process with all of my colors until I have the texture I am looking for. I also added Gold Glimmer Metallic Ink to the background. Once the panel was complete, I used the die in this month's Clear Stamp and Die set. I chose to use the die as a stand alone without stamping. I die cut three pieces of sea grass. I then added texture to the edges using Nautical and Espresso Core Inks.

Next I used a piece of hot press watercolor paper to stamp the mermaid.  I prepped the surface with my anti-static powder tool and stamped the mermaid using Onyx Pigment Ink. I then heat set the image using Ultra Fine Embossing Powder. I colored the mermaid using my Karin Markers. I worked in layers allowing each layer to dry, then adding more color until I had the depth I was looking for. I added shine to the mermaid using Gold Glimmer Metallic Ink. Once the coloring was complete, I die cut the image using the coordinating die.  I applied Espresso ink to the edge of the mermaid die cut.

I completed the tag by stamping a sentiment from this month's set onto a scrap piece of my background using Onyx Pigment Ink and heat set the sentiment using Ultra Fine Embossing Powder. I die cut the sentiment using the coordinating die. I then adhered all the layers together using a combination of foam tape, as well as Precision Glue. I added a piece of twine to complete the tag.

Thank you so much for stopping by today!  I will be back soon!
