Happy Bee-Day!

Hello! Today I’m happy to be here sharing a card using the adorable Busy As A stamp set, as well as the Honeycomb Stencil. I’ll just jump right into it – I began by stenciling the honeycomb using a combination of Butter Bar, Soft Vanilla and Fresh Peach inks. I used a brush for my stenciling, but a sponge, sponge dauber or blending tool would have worked just as well. The little bee hive and bees were colored with Copic markers. I trimmed them by hand, but even easier would be to use their matching Frame Cuts dies. (FYI – you can also get these as a Stamp and Die Combo!)

A couple days ago I saw Jennifer McGuire share a super fun technique for creating a shaker card, using tulle instead of acetate sheets! I thought that was really clever and had to give it a try. And I thought the bees were a perfect combination with the netting look of the tulle! Creating the window for the shaker was easy – I cut the window using my Oval Infinity Dies, cutting through both the front half of my card base, as well as my stenciled quarter sheet. I cut two pieces of tulle that were a little larger than my window, and simply attached them with double stick tape. In between I added lots of sequins from our Ombre Sunshine mix.

Such a fun look for these sweet little bees! I’m thinking perhaps I should have added a little glitter to their wings – I may still have to do that…

And before I go, just a reminder that honeybees are our pollinators, and so very important. And they are disappearing! There are many websites dedicated to saving the bees – do a Google search if you’re interested, and consider planting bee-friendly plants in your yard. We need bees in the world!! But wasps, not so much. Smash them all!  ;-)

Thanks for stopping by,
