Gold Leafed
Whenever I find myself in a rut creative-wise, I have a couple fall backs, such as heat embossing and watercoloring. When I got the chance to play with the new Paper Layering Maple Leaf die, I just knew it would look gorgeous with some watercoloring.
I die-cut the leaf at an angle on a piece of cardstock, then flipped the cardstock, and cut the leaf again, making a whole leaf. Once I had my leaf cut, I went in with some ZIG markers and loosely colored the leaf. That’s one of the things I loved about watercoloring – it doesn’t have to be precise (aka, I can be lazy and get away with it ;)). I also picked up some of the watercolor and flicked it around with my paintbrush.
I then dabbed my pad of Versamark around the leaf, and heat embossed the slight impressions with some gold embossing powder, for that little extra somethin’-somethin’. I also heat embossed a sentiment from Holiday Petals and Leaves in white and adhered that in the center of the leaf using some dimensional adhesive.
I cut the panel down on the sides, to make the layering effect more fun, and adhered it to a kraft card base. Topped the card off with some gems, and there ya have it!
Thanks for stopping in and God bless!
