Glimmer Inks on Dark Cardstock
Hello and welcome to the Hero Arts blog! Janette here with you today to share about the ease of Glimmer Inks on dark cardstock.
Hero Arts Glimmer Metallic Inks are fast drying, loaded with pigment, easily diluted with water and super fun to work with. They are sold in packs of 2 coordinating colors. At this time there are four sets available, Green & Red, Copper & Bronze, and for this project I used the Purple & Blue set, and Pewter from a pack combined with gold.
To create this card apply a wash of blue and purple Glimmer Metallic Ink to heavyweight black cardstock (I used 100lb). Add water to move the ink creating interest, fade the edges and add splatters. The paper will likely warp, and that is okay. More dabbing and splattering, less scrubbing. Wet cardstock will pill without caution. With panel only slightly damp, splatter with Pewter Glimmer Metallic Ink for a strong star-like look.
Liberally wet white watercolor paper. Dab several dots of Pewter letting the color move and bloom replicating the look of our moon. I prefer to let mine dry naturally, but a heat tool works as well.
Once completely dry, flatten panels with a clothes iron or laminator. I always protect my project by sliding it between a folded sheet of clean copy paper.
Die cut Cloudy Moon Fancy Die into inked black cardstock. Pop black panel with dimensional adhesive over white moon panel. White heat emboss Autumn Moon sentiment, add a silver glitter paper highlight, and adhere to card.
Adhere panels together onto a Snow Folded Card and add a few star sequins. These sequins are a part of the March My Monthly Hero Kit which just so happens to still be available.

Such a beautiful card! The paper looks thinker than normal, is that doubled up or special paper?

This card is absolutely beautiful and the sentiment is perfect! Thanks for the inspiration, especially with the black card stock, which I don’t seem to remember to use instead of white and cream all the time. Although I don’t have the inks…”yet”, I just received the die and am looking forward to using it along with the goodies from this month’s kit.

Gorgeous card! The colours are so deep and rich. I’m loving the look of these metallic glimmer inks. Everything I’ve seen that used them has been stunning. They are on my wishlist but so are distress oxide inks, and alcohol inks and everything that goes along with those. I just bought some liquid watercolours. I’m new to this part of card making and I’m finding it all adds up pretty quickly and don’t know if I’ll enjoy it enough to warrant spending the money. But these metallic inks are gorgeous and seem a little more versatile. They’ll probably be my next purchase. Sorry for the rambling.
