Emboss Resist Ink Blending

Good morning! Jess here with a cutesy Valentine's card featuring our adorable Love Bandit set with a cheeky sentiment from I Love How You!

There's only one house "chore" that I'm really reluctant to do and that's taking out the trash...I don't know, for some reason I just really don't like to do it. But thankfully my husband has decided it's best not to argue and just does it himself. ;) So when I saw that sentiment from I Love How You I knew it was perfect for his Valentine's Day card this year!

I started by stamping the raccoon from Love Bandit with Intense Black ink, colored him with Copic markers, and then die-cut him with the coordinating dies. Then I die-cut a heart from the Nesting Heart Infinity Dies using the Punch shade from our Blush Layering Papers. I stamped the sentiment from I Love How You with Versamark and heat-embossed it with silver embossing powder. Then I stamped a few hearts from the Love Bandit set on the heart and added Nuvo Crystal Glaze to give the hearts some dimension. I also added crystal glaze to the raccoon's eyes.

When I was trying to decide on a background for my raccoon I found the Filigree Pattern Bold Prints background stamp and thought it looked a little like chain links.  Even though it's totally not what was intended I thought it was the perfect look for my scene! I started by stamping it onto Snow Layering Paper with Versamark and then heat-embossed it with clear embossing powder. Then I blended Soft Granite ink over the cardstock from the top down. I kept my touch light so the ink would be darker at the top of the panel and lighter at the bottom, fading into white about halfway down the panel. After I finished blending I took a dry paper towel and lightly buffed the embossing powder. Where the pattern is embossed, the embossing powder resists the ink and leaves behind the design and creates a fun tone on tone pattern!

I hope this gives you some inspiration for using your background stamps and inks in different ways! Thanks so much for visiting and have a wonderful day!
