Easy Mixed Media Encouragement Card
Good morning! Jess here with a fun and slightly messy mixed media card featuring some of our new Summer Catalog release products!
I've been playing around more and more with mixed media projects and have realized that mixed media is not as complicated as I used to think. It literally just means mixing at least two different mediums. Did you ink blend and heat-emboss a card? Then you made a mixed media card. It's truly that simple!
My card today has a little more than two mediums but not much more! I start by ink-blending Dandelion and Spicy Mustard Core ink onto an A2 panel of Canary cardstock with a blending brush. I focus the darker colors on the outside edges of the panel. Ink - medium #1!
Next I spritz the card panel with White Iridescent Shimmer Mist for my second medium! I let that dry completely. Then I ink the new Positive Script Bold Prints cling stamp with Embossing & Watermark ink and heat-emboss it with Black Detail Embossing powder. I leave the cling stamp, design side up, on my work surface and just press the card panel randomly across the stamp. There's a little overlap and the inconsistency of my inking and stamping is kinda fun here. So embossing powder is my third medium!
Next I wanted to up the shimmer factor so I splattered Gold Glimmer Metallic Ink onto the panel and let it dry. I watered it down a bit so it would splatter easily and that's the fourth medium! While the panel was drying I die-cut the Big Hugs Stamp & Cut with black glitter cardstock from the Glitter Paper Basics pack. I also applied the Butterfly Hero Transfers to a panel of Dove White cardstock and die-cut them with the coordinating dies.
Once my panel was dry I adhered the sentiment with Precision Glue and then bent my butterflies slightly in the middle and added a thin line of Precision Glue to the middle of their bodies. I pressed them into the panel and held them in place for a few seconds to give the glue time to set. Then I added tiny strips of foam mounting tape on either side of their body under the wings to give the wings a little dimension.
And that's it...I love how nicely all these products play together and when combined can create some really fun and shimmery effects! Do you like experimenting with mixed media? I'd love to know some of your favorite mediums to combine! Thanks so much for stopping by and have a fantastic weekend!
