Easy Masking for a Simple Background

Hello and welcome! Seeka here and today I'm sharing a card featuring an image from the sweet new Mother and Father Animals stamp set and some very easy masking for a clean and simple thank you card.

I started off with the sweet kitty image by stamping it in Copic-friendly Intense Black ink onto Dove White cardstock. Then I did some very simple coloring, first solidly coloring the image using a light brown marker, and then adding dots of the same light brown color, as well as a darker brown, to mimic texture and shading. I also lightened the insides of the kitties' ears using a colorless blender marker. With the coloring finished, I used the coordinating die to cut out the image and then I set it aside.

Next, I used a low-tack tape (Post-it notes are great for this!) to mask off the bottom area of a 4.25" x 5.5" panel of Dove White cardstock. Using a blending brush, I blended Bubble Gum ink over the exposed area of the panel, concentrating the color at the masked line and letting it fade to white a couple of inches above that line.

To finish the card, I stamped the sentiment in Onyx pigment ink and then used foam tape to adhere the cat image. Finally, I glued the card front to a top-folding card base.

Thank you so much for visiting!
