Dotted Hello Cards

Aug 10, 2016 Hero Arts Info

Hi! Where do you find inspiration for your card designs? Sometimes when I make cards, I simply start with two things - a color palette that I love and a handful of my favorite stamps and stencils. So, today I'm sharing a pair of "hello" cards that I made with a few summery inks and some of my most loved stamps.

I started by selecting four ink colors that I thought were fun, bright, and feminine - [hero_product_link sku="AF261" text="Lemon Yellow"], [hero_product_link sku="AF242" text="Soft Cantaloupe"], [hero_product_link sku="AF262" text="Lime Green"], and [hero_product_link sku="AF223" text="Tide Pool"]. Then, I created two card bases from a sheet of [hero_product_link sku="PS640" text="tide layering paper"]. I covered angled portions of each card front with stamped and stenciled papers that I created with [hero_product_link sku="SA043" text="Kelly's Window Pane"] stencil and [hero_product_link sku="CG677" text="Lia's Irregular Arrow Bold Prints"] background stamp. To create the multi-colored strips, I simply used [hero_product_link sku="MI002" text="sponge daubers"] to apply each ink color through the stencil onto narrow pieces of [hero_product_link sku="PS610" text="snow layering paper"].

I [hero_product_link sku="PW110" text="embossed"] the beautiful [hero_product_link sku="C6137" text="Dotted Hello"] sentiment onto gray circles and then added smaller sentiments from the [hero_product_link sku="DC183" text="Prayers Stamp & Cut"] set that I embossed onto narrow, coral cardstock strips. I love that I can get the look of a hand-stitched sentiment with the Dotted Hello stamp without using a needle and thread! I added each circle to a card front with foam tape. Using my four ink colors, I stamped a collection of small flowers from the [hero_product_link sku="CL944" text="Color Layering For You Flowers"] set, die cut them with the [hero_product_link sku="DI173" text="matching die"], and then scattered them across each card with foam tape. I finished each card with a trio of small, white pearls.

You can see that the two finished cards are very similar but by making a few small changes to each design, I was able to create two different cards. I merely changed the position of the stamped paper to the card front, I stamped different small sentiments for each card, and then I altered the flower and sentiment placement on each design.
