DIY With Debi: Gift Wrap Session
Hi everyone! Can you believe it is already the middle of the week? For some of us, time is flying by and for others, it is barely moving ahead. Wherever you are at, I am grateful you have come here to spend a bit of your time. I am Debi Adams and this is DIY with Debi, a mid-week pick me up of sorts with a variety of projects. I thought since Mother’s Day is around the corner and birthdays are always nearby, it would be fun to do a gift wrap session using one stamp and die set. To be honest, I thought I would do a bag and a tag and be done, quick and easy right? But you know how when you dig into something, and get your supplies out, it can be hard to stop? Yeah, THAT. :) So I am showcasing seven different styles of gift wrap, all with the New Day Butterflies stamp set and coordinating Frame Cuts. I would love to know which one of the styles are you? Leave a comment at the end and we will see what the popular vote is. My house is of course, divided. It’s a house of girls, with opinions, diversity, unique personalities and, mind changers! Ironically, I would not change a thing! Anyway, let’s take a look.

Cinco de Mayo de Color
Bright fiesta-colored butterflies were stamped with ink slightly darker than the variety of colored-cardstock and then die-cut and glued onto orange embroidery floss. Pom-pom balls were adhered in between the butterflies, and it all embellished a kraft-colored box.
Modern Elegant
Gold embossed butterflies attached to a wired laurel of leaves on pure white paper. (Laurel leaves available at hobby stores, generally in the wedding section).
Mixed Media-Modern Twist
This hand-painted, kraft-colored, wrapping paper has small, acrylic white markings that were outlined with a fine tip black marker. Butterflies were stamped from Intense Black ink onto Dove White cardstock, colored with markers, splattered with acrylic paint and die cut. They are adhered to the top of heavy black upholster’s thread that has been wound around the box. A sentiment tag completed the package.
Retro-Organic-Woodsy
Inspired by red mushrooms, two red butterflies were adhered to the top of a small wood slice and embellished with straw flowers, tiny mushrooms and green moss. Kraft package has been tied with a red and black plaid ribbon remnant and secured in place.
Modern Farmhouse
Simply done in black and white. A tiny stamped “lavender bunch” embellished the package to carry out the earthy feel. Of course, the package has a black and white checked ribbon.
Vintage
Old sheet music envelopes this package. Clear glitter and colored butterflies sit atop a ring of thin, woody branches. It’s tied together with vintage pink seam binding and embellished with two pearl pins and vintage millinery flowers.
Fairy Princess
A colorful straw served as the base for this gold-embossed butterfly wand. Butterfly was colored with markers that coordinated with the straw. Several ribbons were secured to the back of the straw, as well as some pink ruffled tissue paper. It sits on top of ombre-colored wrapping paper. (Hero Hues Reactive Inks, Pool Party and Blue Raspberry.)
Whew! I think there might be a few ideas I missed. (Hummm, Halloween?) What say you? Do you have this stamp set? It’s a favorite and it is very versatile. What would your theme be? Keep me posted!

Hi Debi, Your gift wrapped packages are darling! I couldn’t possibly pick just one, so my top 3 are the retro woodsy, the cinco de mayo, and the modern elegance gold ons. That being said, I love them all! I have lots of special events coming up, weddings and baby showers, so will definitely put your genius ideas to use. Thanks so much for the inspiration!
