December My Monthly Hero Countdown: Idea #5 + Giveaway

Hello and welcome back to the countdown to the release of the December My Monthly Hero kit! Release day is Monday, December 2 at 1pm Eastern/10am Pacific. Now let's join Jess for another beautiful peek!

Good morning! Jess here with a cheery card using the new kit!

I love that big intricate image and decided it would be perfect for a little colored pencil work! I started by stamping the image onto Hero Hues Sand Cardstock using my MISTI and the light Soft Vanilla Shadow Ink. I left the stamp on the lid of my MISTI while I colored the image with Polychromos colored pencils. I love all the details of this stamp from the little flowers to the waves and butterflies!! It was a lot of fun to color everything!

Then, because I'm not necessarily the tidiest pencil colorer, I placed the panel back inside my MISTI, stamped the image and sentiment with Clear Embossing and Watermark Ink and heat-embossed it with Detail Black Embossing Powder.  This really helps the image pop!  Since there's so much going on in the stamp I left it simple and let the colors pop!

Thanks so much for stopping by today and have a fantastic day!

Win a kit before you can buy it! Just leave a comment on this (and every) Countdown to Creativity post. We’ll randomly draw one lucky winner from all the comments left across all countdown posts. The winner will be announced first thing Monday morning, December 2, before the kit launches at 10am Pacific. The more you comment, the more chances to win!

Good luck!

Love this Mother Nature image and all it’s detail! Your pencil coloring is wonderful and love your idea to color and then heat emboss! Thanks for sharing !

Many people try to soften the edges when using coloured pencils, but the images take on a fresh look with bold outlines. Lovely colours.

Love all the pretty colors on this sweet image!

Love the tip about embossing at the end, probably as my coloring isn’t that neat.
