December My Monthly Hero Countdown: Idea #6 + Giveaway
It's time for our final countdown peek before the release of the December My Monthly Hero kit! The kit will be available tomorrow, Monday, December 2 at 1pm Eastern/10am Pacific. Now let’s join Michelle for another look at this fabulous kit!
There are so many wonderful images in the kit stamp set that it was difficult to choose what I wanted to use. I love that the set has smaller images that can be used in conjunction with bigger images, or can be used on their own. I am using the koi fish image for my card today.
I first took the koi fish image and stamped it on to Hero Hues Dove White Cardstock with Intens-ified Black Ink. I coloured them using Copic Markers. The stamp as it is, stamps the fish in a perfect circle shape, but I wanted them to be slightly further apart for my card, so I fussy cut them out with scissors.
I took the Tag Fancy Die and cut this from more Hero Hues Dove White Cardstock. I added some colour on top with Copic Markers, to represent water using the the same colours that I used on the fish, but in paler tones (it is showing as very pale in the photos but is a little more noticeable in real-life). I then stamped the sentiment from the set below. The sentiment comes stacked up, so I masked off the words separately to stamp them in a line.
The fish were added to the tag with thin foam tape. I then added the topper to the tag that I cut from Hero Hues Pitch Black Cardstock. The tag was added to a top folding A2 card base made from Hero Hues Papaya Cardstock, with foam tape. I did add some scoring lines to the front of the card base for some added interest. To finish off, I added a twine bow to the top of the tag.
I really love the calming feel to this card and since the koi fish usually represent love, friendship, good fortune and luck, I think it works well.
Win a kit before you can buy it! Just leave a comment on this (and every) Countdown to Creativity post. We’ll randomly draw one lucky winner from all the comments left across all countdown posts. The winner will be announced first thing Monday morning, December 2, before the kit launches at 10am Pacific. The more you comment, the more chances to win!
Good luck!

Love the watercolor look with Copic. Koi has got to be my favorite fish. Your fussy cutting is really good, looked like it was cut with die but better. Great job!

It’s so cool to see some of the smaller images Michelle. Koi are such interesting fish & have such vibrant spots of colour on them. I love the colour of the Hero Hues Papaya card stock. My computer has to go in for some work, so I won’t be able to see the reveal which makes me so sad…
