Today we're delighted to have Debi Adams here to share some fabulous “beyond the kit” ideas for a few of the add-ons.
Oh hey friends! Happy December and happy Wednesday! Though we may be at the end of another year and perhaps a bit tired, our Hero Arts designers continue to pull out amazing artistry, creating fabulous work that is so inspiring. Today I want to feature a few of our new add-on sets for December. Both are actually die-cuts with some sentiments coming from additional add-ons. I love that this month’s theme is community, neighborhoods and the feeling of belonging. I certainly wish that for everyone.
So here are two cards using the new City Window Fancy Die and the Tri-fold Edge City Fancy Die.
The City Window card was a quick card to create. I embellished the Dove White top-folded card base with Lemon Drop and Purple Galaxy Reactive Inks, and a smidge of Navy Mid-tone ink. I lightly splattered it with white acrylic paint and added some sequins and tiny paper-punched stars. The top layer was the City Window Fancy Die embellished with Lemon Drop (top of buildings) and Intense Black ink. I added a small sentiment strip to the bottom and that was it!
Although this next design was intended as a tri-fold, I actually used the separate pieces from the Tri-fold Edge City Fancy Die to create a colored-layered background. The background was shaded with Cornflower and Navy Mid-Tone inks onto light blue cardstock. A circle of Dove White cardstock was added for the moon. I then layered the buildings choosing a gray paper for the buildings in the back and a Pitch Black cardstock for the buildings in front. The back buildings had a piece of black cardstock behind them. I colored in the clock face with a white pen and separated the park scene a bit so I could add a lake. Coloring in the lake using a variety of Copic markers, I made sure to leave the center a tad lighter so that the moon was casting a glow on it. Adding to the “glow”, I embellished the black cardstock park scene with a little bit of Sea Salt Reactive ink. The card was complete when I added the stamped sentiment.
This set has a lot of possibilities with all three designs being able to stand together or alone. However, and more importantly, I love that creating and sending a card to someone could brighten their day. Time for me to get making and mailing.
