Creating Die Cuts with Sparkle and Shine
Hello Crafters! It's Kelly Taylor here and today I'm super excited to share an easy way to make your die cuts, or stamped images, sparkle and shine!
Today I am using our Box of Choclates Fancy Dies to create a fun Valentine card. I started by die cutting my images out of Cherry, Plum, and Deluxe White Cardstock. To create the "tissue paper" holders inside the candy box I die cut the wrapper die several times from Classic Vellum Layering Paper. You can definitely use it behind each individual chocolate but I decide to go more for a box half eaten look. Lol!
I chose to die cut my sweet treats in white so I could color them. This is absolutely a step you can skip and just use colored cardstock if coloring isn't for you! After my coloring was done I really wanted to add some genuine shine and sparkle to the die cuts so I reached for my Lacquer Pens. For the treats I used the Crystal Clear Lacquer Pen to make them really shine in the light. To make the top of the box and ribbon more interesting I chose the Sparkle Clear Lacquer Pen which puts down lots of gorgeous clear glitter.
Here is a close up of all that shimmer and shine! Both dry raised, and honestly pretty quickly, to give your die cuts an extra "WOW" detail that I love!
Before I adhered anything I used the Mini Hearts Bold Prints and our White Pearl Embossing Powder to create more interest on my card base. I adhered the top of the lid down flat to the card base using Precision Glue, but decided to pop up the bottom part of the box using dimensional adhesive. The sentiment was heat embossed using White Detail Embossing Powder. I combined two sentiments in the set to create it. The sweet sub sentiment is from Loving Sentiment Strips and that gorgeous script "Be Mine" is from the You're Mine Bundle.
I hope I've inspired you to make some sparkly shiny Valentine's this year! Thank you so much for joining me. I have a video on my Youtube channel showing how the card came together from start to finish.
