CommUNITY: Inspiration from Joy Baldwin
hero
Hi friends! Today we are here with an installment of our monthly series, CommUNITY, where we share artwork from artists who we'd love for you to get to know. CommUNITY is about embracing and honoring the creativity of individuals who are often underrepresented. By sharing art from diverse group of creators, we hope to not only bring inspiration to this paper crafting community we all love so much, but to also support and empower individuals to be their authentic selves as they create and share. Look for a new CommUNITY guest artist right here on the blog each month. Today, our talented guest is Joy Baldwin.
Hi my name is Joy Baldwin aka Create It With Joy. I’ve always loved crafting but, making handmade cards has my heart. I’ve been making cards for the past 20 years, it brings me so much Joy (haha). I’m so grateful for all the wonderful people that I've met through this wonderful craft.
These cards were inspired by the beautiful friendships that I have been blessed with, through this community. Being able to meet such wonderful people all over the world is a gift.
I stamped the World Goddess stamp on Luxe White Watercolor Cardstock with Clear Embossing and Watermark Ink and heat embossed with gold embossing powder. I used Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers to color the image and then trimmed it out with scissors. For the background, I decided to use alcohol inks. I used Sandal, Teakwood and Latte, three beautiful browns along with Brass Pinata metallic alcohol ink.
I stamped the sentiment from the Hello Stamp & Cut and heat embossed it in gold embossing powder then die cut the “hello” three times with gold mirror cardstock and adhered them together. I adhered the image and sentiments with foam adhesive for dimension and added a gold mirror cardstock mat.
For the Love Is Love Bold Prints stamp, I masked off one of the larger “Love” words on the stamp with low tack tape, then inked up the rest of the stamp with three colors of brown and tan inks. I went from light to dark starting at the bottom and stamping it onto a white piece of cardstock. Then I masked the rest of the stamp leaving the “Love” word open and stamped it with red ink.
I stamped the sentiment from the Hello Stamp & Cut and gold heat embossed it and then cut the “hello” die three times from gold mirror cardstock and adhered them together. I added a gold mirror mat behind the small sentiment and behind the stamped card panel.
Joy, thank you so much for sharing your beautiful cards and talent with us today! You can find more inspiration from Joy on Instagram, Facebook and YouTube.
