Combining Stamp Sets for Scene Cards
Good morning! Jess here with a card combining two stamp sets to create a fun scene!
To create my card I started by blending Navy, Deep Ocean, and Summer Sky ink onto a panel of Hero Hues Dove White cardstock. Once I was done blending I trimmed it down to 3.5" by 7". Next I die-cut clouds from the Nesting Cloud and Nesting Cloudy Infinity Dies and saved the negative outline of the clouds (I kept the actual clouds for a future project). I placed the cloud negative over the bottom of the panel and blended a little Unicorn White pigment ink over my makeshift stencil. I kept turning and shifting my cloud negative to get a different look as I continued blending across the bottom and top of the panel. Then I set that aside to dry completely while I worked on the rest of the card.
Next I stamped the airplane and dog from Fly High Animals with Versafine and heat-embossed them with Clear Embossing Powder. I colored them with Copics and then die-cut them with the coordinating dies. Isn't that pup adorable!? Once my background panel was dry I stamped the Hello sentiment from Color Layering Waves with Versamark using my MISTI. I heat-embossed it with White Embossing Powder and then placed it back in the MISTI and stamped it again with Versamark. This time I heat-embossed it with White Puff Embossing Powder for a raised puffy effect. When I saw the sentiment I thought that the intended sand effect would also create an interesting sky-writing effect for my scene! And the White Puff Embossing Powder is PERFECT for achieving that look! I took a versamark pen and added a few squiggles leading to and from the sentiment and heat-embossed those with White Embossing Powder. Then I added more dimension to the squiggles by heat-embossing over them with White Puff Embossing Powder. Next I adhered the blended panel to a Dove White panel cut to 3.75" by 7". I adhered the airplane with foam mounting tape and then tucked the dog in with Precision Glue. Then I added a few accents with a white gel pen. Finally I added a few drops of Precision Glue to the dog's scarf and the sky writing and sprinkled them with Snowfall Glitter for a little extra sparkle!
I hope this inspires you to look at your stamps in a new way and see if they can be combined in new and unusual ways! I totally think the sentiment looks like sky-writing, what do you think? ;) Thanks so much for stopping by and have a wonderful day!

This card is so wonderful! I love how you used the Hello stamp form the June 2018 kit/Color layering waves set. I struggled with that Hello stamp and now you made me see it in a whole new light. Thank you.I love this card!

I love the look of this, but wish you had done a video. You die-cut clouds and used the negative space as a stencil? And you moved the “stencil” around to get the overlapping look you wanted? And you used the same pigment ink on top and bottom and the difference in look is due to the color beneath the stencil?

That’s genius! I don’t have an airplane, but will definitely be making hello clouds in my next beach scene! I always love getting new ways to use my stamps… Thanks for the inspiration!

I love this card, you know when you purchase items and you think later on why did I get this? Well, I have 2 not one but 2 versamark pens. So now I can use them for this idea. Thank you for this.
