Beyond the Card: Colorful & Simple Bookmarks
Hey everyone. It's Dana here with you today. The new 2022 Mixed Media Catalog has been revealed and I'm here for it all. So much goodness going on for mixed media lovers. Let's take a look at the colorful and simple bookmarks I made using the Abstract Frames Stencil.
To get the colorful background, I inked up the stencil with Reactive Inks in Fruit Punch, Lemon Drop, Key Lime Fizz, Blue Raspberry and Splash. I lightly spritz the stencil with water using our Water Mist Bottle. Once the stencil was wet, the tag was laid directly on top. Leaving the tag on there for 30 seconds or so, I released it from the stencil to achieve this colorful background.
You will want to make sure this bookmark is dried before moving on to the next part. Now it was time to add the flower, sentiment and splatter. The sentiment and flower are from the Creative Quotes stamp set. I stamped both Intens-ified Black ink and then chose to stamp the flower again in Clear Embossing and Watermark Ink so I could heat set it with Gold Embossing Powder. While I had the powder out, I flicked water onto the bookmark, sprinkled on a little bit more gold embossing powder, and heat set the tag.
For my next bookmark, I used the same stencil, and this time I used Reactive Inks in Lemon Drop, Key Lime Fizz, Splash, Grape Slush and Taffy. The sentiment and image are also from the Creative Quotes stamp set. A more colorful image was created by using a few of the Reactive Inks instead of just black ink. However, the sentiment was created with black ink.
Instead of using water and gold embossing powder, I switched it up and used Silver Embossing Powder. A few pieces of colorful twine finished off my tags nicely.
I hope we are inspiring you with our creative projects for this release. Remember, you don't always have to make a card. Mixed media products work great on bookmarks, journals, home decor and more. Have a great day everyone and I'll see you back here soon.
