Clean and Simple Scene Building
Jessica Frost-Ballas
Good morning! Jess here with a clean and simple card featuring the adorable Sledding Stamp & Cut set!
Some may argue that this is not a clean and simple card but my thought has always been that a clean and simple card requires a lot of white space. This card has a lot going on but I think the big swath of white really helps keep your eye focus on the important parts! I love using snow on a card as a way to simplify things! :)
To start I stamped the mouse, sled, and gifts from Sledding Stamp & Cut onto white cardstock with Versafine and heat-embossed it with clear embossing powder. I colored the images with Copics and then die-cut them with the coordinating dies. I also stamped the sentiment on black cardstock and heat-embossed it with white embossing powder before trimming it down to a square.
Next I painted an ombre sky using Deep Ocean, Dark Teal, and Indigo liquid watercolors with just a tiny drop of Pewter Glimmer Ink for a little extra sparkle. Once the panel was dry I flicked it with white paint to create a snowy sky. Then I tore a piece of white cardstock and silver glitter cardstock to create a rough snowy landscape and adhered them to the watercolor panel. Finally I used a little twine to add a little texture to my card and adhered the sentiment and sledding mouse with foam mounting tape! I really love the motion of this card...I can picture that poor mouse holding on for dear life as the wobbly stack of presents careens down a snowy hill and I hope you can, too! :)
Thanks so much for stopping by today and have a wonderful crafty day!
What a wonderful card and I would definitely call it clean and simple! What a beautiful sky you created and I love the touch of silver glitter paper as it adds depth and texture to the winter scene
