Chicago My Kind of Town

The new Destination stamps collection is one of my favorites from the new Summer Catalog. The stamps that are part of it include some of the main cities of the U.S. and they are perfect to create cards, postcards, document your trips or even to use on your scrapbook pages.  Today I am sharing a couple of cards featuring  [hero_product_link sku="CL965" text="Kelly's Chicago"], which is one of my faves:

Ever since I visited Chicago for the very first time, I fell in love with the city. I think the main image of this stamp set  illustrates the city to perfection. Besides that image, the set includes other fun images and phrases that also characterize Chicago. Downtown is at the edge of the lake and it is well known as the windy city, so I thought the [hero_product_link sku="SA075" text="Waves Stencil"] was ideal to represent all that.

The first thing that I did was to create a main panel using [hero_product_link sku="PS623" text="Sea Layering Paper"]. Then I masked approximately half of it with a sticky note. With a sponge applicator I added [hero_product_link sku="AF340" text="Deep Ocean Hybrid Ink"] on the lower half of the panel to make that half darker (that is the lake) . After that, I removed the mask and I placed the [hero_product_link sku="SA075" text="Waves Stencil"] over the panel. I sponged again  over the stencil using the same color. The waves are the wind over the sky and the currents of the lake at the same time :D  Lol... I was feeling very creative at this point on my project :)

Next,  I simply [hero_product_link sku="PW101" text="silver-embossed"] the city image right above the blue line. Then, I [hero_product_link sku="PW100" text="gold-embossed"] the main sentiment and secondary text. I adhered the panel over a [hero_product_link sku="PS688" text="Black card base"], and I finished it off by embellishing the card with a few clear [hero_product_link sku="CH117" text="gemstones"].

Creativity was on my side, so I created a second card. I experimented the same background over a white panel with [hero_product_link sku="AF146" text="Soft Pool Shaow ink"]. This time I used [hero_product_link sku="AF345" text="Intense Black ink"] for all the stamped  images.

But this time to add dimension and make the images shiny, I added Glossy Accents and a little bit of Crystal coarse glitter. Finally,  I embellished the card with some sequins.

I think this is one of those sets that you can use over and over again. As you can see, once you have set a design it is just a matter of changing colors or details to make it look different. Please be sure to see the complete Destination Collection. I am sure you are going to like it.

Thanks for joining me today.
