Create a Background Focal Point

Janette Kausen

Good day to you! Thank you for joining us on the Hero Arts blog. Today, I am featuring the new Bookcase wood mount stamp.

Our home is filled with voracious readers, but our wall of books is no where near this remarkable. Wouldn't it be fantastic to come home to these dreamy shelves everyday?

I began by stamping the Bookcase image on Radiant White cardstock in Copic friendly Intense Black ink. I colored each book with its own shade of the rainbow with Copic markers and repeated a few colors for the bottom shelf. I added a touch of shading in the nooks and crannies at the bottom of the books and a slight touch below each shelf.

I adore the detail on these shelves, from the tiny fan to the airplant cloche. I added a touch of gold here and there with a metallic marker. Leaving little pops of white on most of the books enhances the level of interest.

In order to allow the sentiment to be seen, but not overshadow the background, I opted to use vellum cut with a Circle Infinity die. The vellum allows the Hello die cut and "you're literally amazing" Stazon sentiments to be seen above the background focal point.

Trim panel and adhere to Black Folded Card base (The coolest with white on the inside!). Add black accents with Nuvo Drops.

As an alternative, the Bookcase could be stamped in a light beige or gray for subtlely to allow other elements, like those from Story Time or In The Study, to be the focal draw.

Thank you for visiting and have a wonderful day!

PS: The new March My Monthly Hero will be sneaking in just two sleeps! Keep your eyes peeled!

I was worried about this fairly large wood mounted stamp producing a good image…..but on the first try that is exactly what it did
