Hi stampers! We have loads of inspiration to share with you today in a new feature we’re calling “Awesome Add-ons.” As you may know, along with each My Monthly Hero kit release, we introduce several new add-on products that can be used with the kit or on their own. October’s add-ons include holiday and winter themed clear stamps with matching Frame Cuts, several Fancy Dies, and packs of acetate sheets…

Our Creative Team is going to share three fabulous “beyond the kit” ideas for these fun add-ons. Jayne is up first and we love what she’s created!

Jayne: I’m sharing a pair of city-inspired holiday cards that I made with the new Skylines Fancy Dies add-on set. I’ve used both the skyline and the bridge dies to make colorful, layered backgrounds.

To create the snowy sky on each card, I inked pieces of watercolor paper with Distress ink, splattered them with water, and then sprayed them with Unicorn white spray. After they dried, I cut a city skyline along the lower edge of each panel. Next, I cut the same skyline from two pieces of white, glittered cardstock and then inlaid these die-cut cityscapes into the inked, sky panels. To create a layered background, I die-cut two additional skylines and two bridges from colored cardstock.

For each card, I embossed a holiday sentiment from the Christmas Messages set. To make the cards even more seasonal, I added a stamped and watercolored holly branch to each design. I finished each card with a small bow and a trio of sparkly gems. It’s Christmas time in the city!

Clare created the next beauty with one of our new background dies.

Clare: One of my favorite things from the October My Monthly Hero release is the Star Confetti die – it’s just so versatile! And you know one of the cool things about it? It’s still available!

For my card today, I wanted the stars to really shine (hahaha, sorry, couldn’t help myself), so I blended a background using Navy, Grape Juice, Ultra Pink, and Orange Soda, then splattered some Unicorn White Spray on it.

I then die cut the panel once it was dry. I did a little partial die cutting on a card base, so that I could adhere my die cut panel and have it be see through to the back of the inside…

I topped off the card with a die cut Peace sentiment, along with two little white heat embossed accompanying sentiment strips.

So do you find this star die as awesome as I do?! I love it!

And finally, Yana brings some holiday cheer and warm winter wishes!

Yana: The Holiday Cheer add-on stamp set from the October My Monthly Hero release is perfect for creating fun sketchy type cards.

Warm Winter Wishes Card by Yana Smakula for Hero Arts

I wanted to stamp a simple Holiday scene so I started by stamping a house onto masking paper and cutting it out. I also stamped same house in Intense Black ink  onto a sheet of watercolor paper, masked it and added a hill and trees to complete the scene. For my sentiment I went with Warm Winter Wishes and stamped it directly above the smoke from the chimney.

I used Daniel Smith watercolors and did some quick coloring. Once my scene was dry I added lots of snow using a white gel pen.

We hope you enjoyed today’s projects and look forward to bringing you more Add-on inspiration in the months to come. Thanks so much for stopping by for a peek!
