Hello my friends! Do you feel the chill in the air? Ah, I am so liking it over in my neck of the woods. I live in Southern California where it has been quite warm and don’t get me started on the hot winds. I’m happy to see and feel a change of the season and I’m more than ready to welcome winter. Today I’m showcasing two new November add-on sets that seem to reflect that same mindset.
This first card is a series of layers from the Winter Woods HeroScape stamp set and coordinating Winter Woods HeroScape Frame Cuts.
To create an illusion of height using the trees, I applied different colors of stamped images to 4 separate sheets of 3 1/2” x 8 1/2” Dove White cardstock and then die cut them. At the forefront (and the first sheet of cardstock) is one set of trees stamped in Navy ink, followed by a second sheet of cardstock with a different set of trees using a “dirty” but perfect palette of Antigua ink combined with Fog Reactive ink. (I applied both colors to the stamp using a blending tool/sponge). I left enough room at the bottom of this sheet of cardstock to create an icy lake (from the more solid image in the set) using Antigua and Unicorn Pigment ink. The third set was colored only (no stamp) with Fog Reactive ink, die cut out and then stamped and embossed with the coordinating small trees using White Embossing Powder to create “snow caps”. The last layer was the powder puff mountain in the far back. It was die cut (no stamp) from Dove White cardstock and flipped over so that the trees had a different outline for variety. All parts and pieces were then layered onto a 3 1/2” x 8 1/2” card base to create this slimline card scene. Finishing up, I tore Dove White cardstock to make additional snow on the bottom of the card, stamped and die-cut the deer, and duo-stamped the sentiment.
Next up is this super easy stamped and gold embossed Etched Winter Scene Bold Prints.
Creating it was quick and easy because I basically stamped and embossed the whole scene onto Dove White cardstock using Clear Embossing & Watermark Ink and gold embossing powder, trimmed it down to 3 3/4” x 5”, mounted it on a slightly larger Dove White cardstock mat and then finally set it on a gold poster board base that fit the 4 1/4” x 5 1/2” card base. I emphasized the swirly sky with a circle of fine gold wire that was embellished with gold poster board snowflakes and white sequins. (The gold snowflakes came from the Layering Snow Globe Fancy Die set).
That’s it. I think those said cold weather, right? I’m ready for a warm blanket, some hot chocolate and a front window view! How about you? It’s nice to know that if you don’t have that type of climate, you can make like you do!
Happy creating!
