Today we're delighted to have Debi Adams here to share some fabulous “beyond the kit” ideas for a few of the add-ons.
Hi friends! Happy to be here featuring our NEW My Monthly Hero add-ons for July 2021. What a fabulous collection of forest-inspired images, where I am fairly certain there is something for everyone. Today I am featuring two cards in two different styles with two different sets with a few additional stamps.
First up is the new Branches Infinity Dies. Love that there are several ways to use this die set. Here is what I did…
It didn’t take long to figure out how fun this die set would be to use in dimensional form. I die-cut the center out of a 4 1/4” x 5 1/2” piece of Dove White cardstock and colored the remaining image minus the branches/leaves with Key Lime and Green Apple Reactive Inks with a tiny bit of Pool Party using an ink blending brush. I think the little bit of Pool Party softens all the green. I then went in with my Copic markers and colored in the branches with several shades of light brown and the leaves with green. I set the entire piece on top of Dove White top folding card base that had been embellished with Taffy and Pool Party Reactive inks. Once I got it the way I liked it, I attached the two pieces together using foam dots. The fairy was stamped onto Dove White cardstock using Pool Party and Blue Hawaii Reactive Inks, die-cut and attached to the card base.
The Intense Black stamped sentiment was embellished with Reactive inks and clear, fine glitter to give it a bit of fairy dust! Because this set includes an individual branch and leaves, I die-cut those out as well, colored them in and attached them to the card. This added more definition and detail. Thought this whole card looked a bit like a storybook, fairy tale. :)
My second card is a mix of mixed media.
To create the background, I literally threw in a little bit of everything. I stamped the Nevermore Bold Prints stamp and part of the new Woodgrain Bold Prints stamp onto the background and smudged some Key Lime and Cup O’Joe ink onto random areas using an ink blending brush. I added a little bit of watercolors from the Daniel Smith Watercolor Dot Palette into the mix and flicked some watery-ink onto it all with a Water Flow Brush. A skinny, rectangular, Wood Bold Prints stamped mat (Nesting Rectangle Infinity Dies) was added with a bit of old ephemera. It was then time to add one of my favorite sets for this month, the Mushroom and Fern Fancy Dies.
I die-cut and colored them all with Key Lime and Green Apple Reactive inks and a little bit of Cup O’Joe and Pumpkin Pie ink, attached them to the card base and stamped the “Thank You” sentiment. It felt good to go in a different direction from my usual designs. Mushroom images are my favorite so everything about this set felt like home. Sure hope it felt that way for you.
Wishing you all some creative days ahead. Hoping this inspired you to take a step out of your comfort zone.
