Today we're delighted to have Debi Adams here to share some fabulous “beyond the kit” ideas for a few of the add-ons.

Well hello my friends! I’m Debi Adams and today I’m going to have a “deep” conversation about several of the NEW My Monthly Hero add-ons for July. I “sea” a ton of fabulous designs for this launch. Couldn’t pick a favorite if I wanted to, so I’m featuring two cards using several images from the release. All are pretty easy to create and I might have a new tip or two in the instructions.

First up is this Peek-A-Boo card using the Deep Sea Background stamp. I stamped up the image with Intense Black ink using the MISTI onto Dove White cardstock and colored them in with my markers. I applied the Peek-A-Boo Doors Fancy Die to the scene. Next, I created the stamped area behind the windows. Tip: A super easy way to stamp up the sentiments from the Deep Sea Messages set inside each of the windows is to take a piece of 4 1/4” x 5 1/2” Dove White cardstock and emboss it using the Peek-A-Boo windows. These markings told me exactly where to stamp my sentiment. Never embossed a die? It’s easy. Simply create a “sandwich” by putting down the rubber mat (an accessory from your die-cutting machine), the paper, the die on top of that (cut side down) and finally add the embossing plate, and then run it through your die cutting machine. Wah lah! The outline is there and ready for you to stamp your various sentiments and imagery into the boxes.

My second card involved two sets of new images as well as one from last year. The School of Fish Bold Prints was stamped with Intense Black ink onto Dove White cardstock and embellished with Green Apple and Pool Party Reactive inks as well as a bit of Emerald Green Mid-Tone ink. The Underwater Pillar Window Die was cut twice from Dove White cardstock. One was embellished with a variety of brown, green and yellow inks and stamped lightly with the Fishing Net Bold Prints stamp. For the second pillar piece, I simply trimmed off the plant portion, colored it in using various yellow and green inks and adhered it to the embellished pillar front. The two large pieces were then adhered together using foam dots. A stamped and embossed sentiment finished the card.

So what do you think? Ready to “dive” into cardmaking with some fabulous stamps and dies? Hero Arts has you covered.

Hope you all are off to a great day! Don’t forget to share your amazing cards with us. We love to see what you have been up to.

Both cards are so beautiful, but the second one with the school of fish is so amazing how it appears to have so much depth and draws your eye into the image!
