Today we're delighted to have Debi Adams here to share some fabulous “beyond the kit” ideas for a few of the add-ons.

Hi everyone! Aren’t you just loving the new My Monthly Hero kit and add-ons for August? So many images that can work so many ways! I’m Debi Adams, and like a lot of you, I am hunkering down here for the summer, having had to change some great plans, but happy to have a special little place at home for creating. Today I made two fun cards that reflect some of the things I can do in my little humble abode while dreaming.

First up is this “cool by the pool” card. Oh my gosh, I so loved this dog from the Lounging Pups set. If only, right? Well then we might have a mad dog takeover. Lol. I made this an easy shaker card by cutting a rectangle from the front of a piece of 3 3/4” x 5” of Dove White cardstock and adhering a piece of acetate to the inside. I lined the inside area around the rectangle with foam felt to give it a raised platform and to allow the sequins to move about freely. I colored the cut rectangle piece from the window with Blue Hawaii Reactive Ink and lined it up where the acetate window would go. The sequins were then carefully laid on top and the top window piece was adhere to the base card using foam dots. (Remember to adhere the foam felt around the window.) The images were stamped in Intense Black ink onto Dove White Cardstock, colored with Copic markers and adhered to card. I stamped and embossed the sentiment onto Pitch Black cardstock to finish it off.

This second card is all about pampering, uh, yes please. It’s been months since I have had my hair cut, colored and any nails done. You? But hey, until I can get out, I think I will just soak in a tub of bubbles and just chill. All images from the Bubble Bath set were stamped in with Intense Black ink and die-cut and colored with Copic markers. I created several frames to go around this scene, used foam dots for a few of the images, and added little bubbles to the tub. Thinking of a few friends who could use this card along with a gift certificate from their favorite nail or spa place for the future. It would be a win for the recipient and a win for small businesses. :)

So what is on your agenda the rest of this summer? Got a favorite thing to do for staycation? While I am still figuring mine out, I think I will just keep creating. Thanks for popping in.

XO,
