It's time for our monthly add-ons feature, and this month it's not just awesome...it's AUSS-SOME. The stamps and dies from our April release are a celebration of the land Down Under, including animals, landscapes, and more! This month we are also offering a special enamel pin as a reminder that though times are difficult, we are one world, in this together, and we are stronger when we support one another with friendship and kindness. Hero Arts will donate 100% of net profits from the sale of this pin to support COVID-19 disaster relief.

Today we're delighted to have Debi Adams here to share some wonderful “beyond the kit” projects that feature die-cuts from the release. Let's dive in!

Hello friends! Hope you all are doing well and staying safe. Today is a great opportunity to change things up, do something different or see something new, all in the convenience of your home. Super excited to be sharing two projects from the April My Monthly Hero add-on collection that are reflective of Australia. Having been to “Down Under”, I can tell you it is a beautiful country with a variety of landscapes. I spent a wonderful week in Geelong teaching crafts. Doesn’t get much better than that but no matter where I am, if it has anything to do with stamping or die-cutting, I am a happy girl.

My first card reminds me of the outback. I used the Nature Border Fancy Die with Frame for encasing the card base, which is pretty simple. Ah, but look a bit closer and notice the background. Do you see it?
I created the background by die-cutting the frame from several colors of muted cardstock and used those die-cut images on the inside to create the landscape. I turned a few pieces around, made what looked like a sky, some clouds and a hill. The grass was a strip of cardstock colored in with various Copic markers. Pretty fun. Kind of looks like paint by number I think.
Australia also has some amazing beaches so obviously this needed to be represented too! My next card was all die-cuts with the exception of the sentiment.
To create the foam in the surf, I die-cut the Surf's Up Fancy Die from Dove White cardstock and then used Reactive Inks (Blue Raspberry, Pool Party and Splash) to bring in some color from the actual wave. I felt like they needed to be tied together and that was the best way to show that. The background was also colored with Reactive Inks (Lemon Drop and Creamsicle) but I came back in and used an orange Copic marker to make a soft smokey-type sunset. (I would like to tell you that I am the girl that is surfing at the top too, but yea, that is not something I have done…yet. “Good Luck” would be an understatement. Lol).
So there you have my two versions of this month’s collection. Love that they bring back sweet memories of my time there. Sending healing thoughts and hope for Australia and our entire planet.

Love the add- ons, especially the Wave die and the Nature die.

I am loving this release and all these images are so awesome and to think you did it because of our terrible fires we had in summer. I can’t wait for them to arrive in stores in Australia so I can buy them – I can’t purchase anything from overseas as I don’t have a credit card so I have to wait 😒. My husband and I spent some time helping out with the fires in the management side of things and we met some of America’s fantastic firefighters who came over to assist us, I even gave one of them some translation words that we use instead of the American terminology we all had a great laugh over some of the differences in our languages. It was a devastating time for our wildlife as it was for the human population but there is some sign of regrowth in most areas now, not that we can see it at the moment as we are not allowed to travel anywhere until after this pandemic is over. Please stay safe and healthy. I thank you all from the bottom of my heart for the encouragement you are continuing to give through this terrible time. God bless.and every one keep crafting to keep sane.
