August My Monthly Hero Countdown: Idea #3 + Giveaway!
We are back for another countdown post, leading up to the release of the August My Monthly Hero kit! Release day is Monday, August 6th at 1pm Eastern/10 am Pacific. We'll be sharing ideas for using both the main kit, as well as new optional add-on products that will be available on Monday. Welcome back to day #2 of the August My Monthly Hero countdown. Ilina Crouse here this morning with another look at this month's kit. I am a huge coffee lover, so this kit is right up my alley.
For my card today I used the cafe scene Fancy Die to dry emboss on piece of Snow Layering Paper. Once done, the piece was trimmed down to 3 3/4" x 5" and ink blended using Cotton Candy ink. Then I splashed little bit of the new Cocoa Liquid Watercolor (one of the new add-ons this month.)
Stamp the two coffee cups using Intense Black Ink and die cut them, as well as some of the tiny hearts (I cut those by hand). Then colored using Copic markers. 
To create the shaped foam, I stamped the images into the coffee cups and used them as a guide line to apply the Crystal Clear Lacquer pen. While it was still wet I applied White Puff embossing powder and heat set it. This will look like foam! It's an amazing effect. Both the lacquer pen and White Puff embossing powder come in this month's kit.
Stamp the sentiment onto some dark brown card stock and emboss with White embossing powder, cut to size and assemble the whole card onto Kraft folded note card, adding some Champagne sequins as a finishing effect, along with some lacquer pen onto the tiny hearts. Let it dry before handling.

I love the heart/love theme of this card. Nice to see you use the fancy die cut to emboss. Some people do not know about this technique. Now more do. I love the cocoa watercolor ink and the use of the puffy embossing powder. Those and that sentiment are must halves.

Love the use of the watercolor as a splatter that looks just like coffee. I love it with the pink and the Kraft cardstock, it gives it a coffeehouse vibe, in my opinion at least. Awesome job!

Love this!!! I love the soft pink and the fancy die dry embossed to create a fabulous background for the lattes. I’m a big fan of pink and brown together so I love your còlour combination. The embossing foam adds so much to the lattes. I’m looking forward to playing with that. Excited to see the full reveal and the add ons too!

I like the card, but I have real trouble with the sentiment. I really can’t use the word LOVE except, maybe, at Valentines. I don’t have anyone in my life for whom the love stuff would be appropriate. I make cards for kids in hospital, and I REALLY CAN’T use the Love word in that context. So, I will cut the word Love off that stamp and just say, “Sending you a latte.”
