April My Monthly Hero Countdown: Idea #3 + Giveaway
Nichol Spohr
Hello and welcome as we continue the countdown to the release of the April My Monthly Hero Kit! Release day is Monday, April 1 at 1pm Eastern/10am Pacific. We will be here throughout the weekend, sharing plenty of inspiration before the launch. Now let's join Nichol for another look at this fabulous kit.
Hello friends! Today I'm sharing a die cut scene card created with the April 2019 My Monthly Hero Kit. The stamps and dies in the kit work together perfectly for incredible scene building.
I started my card by painting a night sky background with Hero Arts Pewter Glimmer Metallic Ink, Blue Glimmer Metallic Ink, and Black Liquid Watercolor. I wetted down the inks with a bit of water and blended them to build the night sky.
Once dry I stamped the clouds from the main kit over the background with Unicorn Ink. Birds from the main kit were stamped over the painted background with Black Ink.
The dies from the main kit and a Nesting Circle Infinity Die were used to die cut Hero Hues Cardstock in Cranberry, Mustard, Adriatic, Nautical, Plum, Chestnut, and Pitch Black.
Charcoal Ink and a blending brush were used to add distressing to the die cuts.
Behind the windows on the Cranberry die cut layer, strips of Mustard Cardstock were adhered to make it appear "light" is shining out the windows.
Behind the tall Plum die cut buildings, Chestnut Cardstock was adhered for a two-tone effect. The buildings were die cut again from Mustard Cardstock and the windows were inlaid. The buildings were adhered to the card with foam adhesive.
A sentiment from the main kit was stamped on the moon with Black Ink.
Nuvo Crystal Drops in White Blizzard were applied to the windows for a shiny, glittery effect. The sky was finished with white pen marks for "stars".
I hope this has inspired you to build some die cut scene cards with the April My Monthly Hero kit!

I love your card! Astounding!
I have been trying to figure out how to lay out all of the pieces. I think my biggest problem is cutting the bottom of the bridge too short. PLUS, i stupidly colored my gondolier person. The black boat and oar was fine, but the rest of the red, black & white was, in a word, messy.
I think I will try a night scene like yours and do the gondolier as a silhouette.
Once again, that is a beautiful card. I hope I can one day figure these dies out enough to make my own!
Where is the video for this located? I would love to see it instead of just reading about it.
Thanks. ~Antoinette
Watched your video for this card and loved how you put the lights on the purple buildings. Clever!!!
WOW Nichol! This card is awesome and I love all the special detail that you put in, with the double colors of the buildings and the sparkle you added to the windowpanes! This card reminds me of the James Bond movie where Vesta ends up in the building in the end and James is trying to save her; I don’t think there was laundry in the movie; but it adds a realistic touch! We all have dirty laundry and only air our clean laundry! Thanks for such an inspiring card!!!!
Dark and beautiful.
