A Blog Named Hero - Flowers!
Hello! Today on the blog I'm putting a flower on it! It's the latest challenge from our friends over at A Blog Named Hero.
For my card, I decided to work with our beautiful Flowering Magnolia stamp. It's currently available as a woodblock stamp - but once the products from our Summer Catalog are available in our online store on Tuesday, May 15, this image will be available as a 3x4 photopolymer clear set as well! And the best part? The matching Flowering Magnolia Frame Cuts will work with both the woodblock and clear versions!
I began with the background of this card, stamping the image in all four corners of my panel using Soft Granite ink. Next, I stamped the image again on watercolor paper using VersaMark ink, and embossed with Detail Black Embossing Powder. I cut it out with the matching die, and then watercolored. For this particular card I used the Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers, but you could also use Liquid Watercolors in Moss, Dandelion and watered down Strawberry or Mulled Wine for a beautiful look. The sentiment was stamped in Intense Black ink, and I mounted it all on a Blush notecard, adding a fun strip of gold glitter paper from my stash.
For my watercoloring on this card, I made a conscious effort to leave some white space along the edges of the petals. I don't typically do that, but I love the look of this style of loose watercoloring.
So are you ready to put a flower on it? Head on over to A Blog Named Hero and play along! The current challenge closes on May 10, and there are great prizes! The winner will get a $50 gift certificate to the Hero Arts store, and one random winner will get a $25 gift certificate. Be sure to check out the challenge rules so your entry will be in the running!
If you aren't able to play along this time, the next challenge begins on May 15 - keep an eye out for that.
Thanks for stopping by!

Nice touch leaving some white around the edges of flowers and the gold glitter piece at bottom. Beautiful!
