A Blog Named Hero - Background Basics

Aug 07, 2021 Hero Arts

Today's post introduces the latest challenge from our friends over at A Blog Named Hero. We are so thankful for the support they give us, and the amazing creations the team creates. If you're looking for a fun challenge to play along with, check them out! Today team member, Kate, is sharing a few projects for their August challenge and they're fantastic!

Hi! Kate here from the A Blog Named Hero Design Team. I'm so excited to be here on the Hero Arts blog to show you a quick way to make lots of birthday cards in no time at all.

This month's challenge theme over at A Blog Named Hero is Background Basics. In case you missed it, A Blog Named Hero is having some blog tech issues, so we’re hosting our challenge on Instagram instead! Please join us there!

I really love the Wish Big Peek-A-Boo Parts background stamp (I used it in my A Blog Named Hero post--check it out on August 19th). EVEN MORE, I love the extra images and sentiment stamps that come with the background stamp. You could even stamp and color the entire background panel and fussy cut the images (if you are adventurous!).

If you follow me on Instagram @katedeignancards, you know I like to get the most out of my stamps. I like to challenge myself to use the stamp in as many different ways as I can, even if it's just using one part of the set.
I stamped and heat embossed the smaller image stamps with Embossing & Watermark Ink and Detail Black Embossing Powder. I then took some alcohol markers in rainbow shades and colored the different balloons, hats and presents. A session of fussy-cutting later, I had all these cute images to pop up on my card bases. The images on a white or black base really make the nicest cards for that someone special!

You can really stretch your stamps when you use the sentiments as a background design element.  I used the scripty font sentiment stamps as a border for the hats and balloons (stamped in Soft Granite and Black.)

I hope you like my card ideas for using your stamps in a different way.  Tag me on Instagram @katedeignancards with your version of my card.

Please join us this month over on A Blog Named Hero and enter your cards in the challenge! Hero Arts sponsors gift cards for the winner!
